Girls, Games, Ponies

Ever since WotC's "April Fool's Joke" about "My Little Pony: The RPG", I've been noodling around (along with litagemini) about creating a real "My Little Pony" RPG.  The stories are all about cooperating to solve problems, and the ponies divide naturally into classes.  I thought it was criminally stupid of WotC, whose parent Hasbro owns the My Little Pony TM license, to NOT make such a game.

I was happy to see at Gencon that at least someone else has embraced the idea with Bella Sara.  It's not a role playing game, it's a card game with an online component, but it was one of the hottest things at the show.

I think they might have something there...

How is it a card game? My daughter has the cards, and her account, and it is Teh Madness amongst her horsey set friends (all of whom have cards and stables and trade like crazy). But none of them are playing games with them other than the online ones.

I WILL say that the website? Has some major issues with load speeds. We can't get to her "cards" page so she can see which cards she has input and which she has not. And their tech support leaves a bit to be desired (from my few times writing to them). Otherwise, tho, it's definitely a hit with the 8-12 year old girls I know who have enjoyed it!

I'll add another "my girls (5 and 10) love it." The 5-year-old is just happy to look at and sort them. My 10-year=old couldn't wait to get on the website Monday night, and one of her friends is into it as well. It's really one of the best things I got out of my first GenCon.

(We had some trouble with the website Monday night, but I think it might have been a Flash issue. I didn't invesigate fully, though.

Dang it, I meant to try to hook up with you while you were in town for GenCon. Coming back any time soon?

Ah, the latest kiddie crack... at least it seems a sight better than Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
